A break from hard work - Prague bridge |
Having attended St Mary's Catholic Comprehensive School, I plumped to study a BA In History and Politics at Keele University.
My time at University can only be described as 'absolutely brilliant' as I made some great friends for life, as well as learnt some essential life skills that are benefitting me today. Upon completion of my degree, which I received a 2.1, I was elected into office as Vice President of Communications of the Students' Union, a paid for year as a sabbatical officer.
The experience was invaluable, not least because I was the editor of the SU publication, The Concourse. I remodelled the publication, hiring a team of trustworthy and talented contributors, as well as organising an editorial team. This was just one aspect of the job, but obviously one that I was deeply interested in on the path to becoming a journalist.
I then decided to study my NCTJ Reporter Journalism, and chose The Sheffield College as the site. Again, this was a positive time of my life, making some good friends as well as excelling on the course. I applied for, and secured, a sports reporter job with the Welwyn Hatfield Times based in Hertfordshire.
I now sports/sub for the Times, as well as work for the Daily Mail as part of their online news/sports team. I have written freelance features for magazines, as well as boxing stories and features for various websites. I am always on the lookout for freelance work, with obvious strength in the sporting arena.
I reckon when you were at the Travelodge you would have loved that bird to be in the bed wouldn't you, you dirty northern get!
